Race 2:  No.8  VALENTINA EXPRESS  ($4.65 with BoomBet)

Local trainer Ricky Vale saddles-up VALENTINA EXPRESS here who is high-flying this time in and looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Warrior’s Reward mare made it four top-two finishes from her five starts this campaign when she beat all but one home in a BM0-55, here over the 1050m sprint. The five-year-old boasts a win and two runner-up finishes from three starts over the track and distance and has come back on top of her game. Ryan Wiggins has steered her to three podium finishes from his five previous rides on the mare and also boasts a 31% success rate with the Vale stable. In career-best form, she looks a genuine winning chance today.

Race 4:  No.4  FRECKLE ROCK  ($3.40 with Picklebet)

Ricky Vale and Ryan Wiggins combine again here with FRECKLE ROCK who is yet to miss a podium finish after five starts and second-up today will take beating here. Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding was resuming after almost two years off the scene when he finished a gallant third in a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1300m. Formerly with the Maher & Eustace stable, this was his first look at the Callaghan Park track and can only improve off the run. A winner when second-up last preparation, the extra distance today looks ideal for him and with Wiggins in charge, he should be there at the finish.

Race 5:  No.7  CHAMELEON CHOICE  ($4.20 with Bet Right)

Local galloper, CHAMELEON CHOICE, has finished unplaced in his two starts this time in but is better than the form suggests and is capable of turning it all around today. Last start, the well-bred Extreme Choice gelding started well enough, settling second but from there on, faded out of the race, finishing last of the eight in a Class 6 Plate over 1100m at Mackay. Ryan Wiggins was aboard that day and after the race, reported concerns with the five-year-old’s galloping action. Taking him on trust today (and forecasting a winning treble for Wiggins as well), he is ideally drawn in gate two here and on his best form, he can take this out.
