BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.5  OVERRIDING  ($3.15 with BoomBet)

Second-up here, the Nathan Doyle-trained OVERRIDING has barely put a foot wrong boasting four wins (and three minor placings) from her eight career-starts and looks in the driver’s seat here to continue the good work. Last start, the Star Turn mare was fresh off a 14-week spell when she collided with another horse at the start but recovered enough to finish third in a BM78 Hcp over 1200m at Randwick. That puts her in good stead for this contest with Koby Jennings remaining on board for his sixth ride on her (after steering her to three wins already). She won her first three starts last preparation proving she has what it takes when fresh. Ideally drawn in gate two here, she will take a ton of beating in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.4  NAILS MURPHY  ($5 with bet365)

The Maher & Eustace-trained NAILS MURPHY turned plenty of heads at his Australian debut and looks ready to rock and roll in this contest. Coming off a 14-week spell, the Sioux Nation gelding had his first look at an Aussie track and did well to grab third prize in the BM78 Hcp over 1400m at Randwick. He came from well back on the turn to pass all but the first two across the line, taking ground off them over the final 100m. Fitter for that run, he is already a winner when second-up and is well drawn in gate four for this event. Ben Melham is the pilot and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to beat here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.4  SALISANO  ($17 with Palmerbet)

Newcastle galloper SALISANO is unbeaten this time in and looks a genuine chance at big odds in this contest. Last start, the Shalaa mare made it back-to-back wins on her home track when she took out a Midway BM68 Hcp over 1200m. Ridden a treat by Koby Jennings, she slipstreamed the leader to the turn, then pulled alongside, took over and went on to win comfortably in the end. This will be her first look at city competition but she has the runs on the board, boasting four wins from her five starts to date and after two wins from as many rides, Jennings steers the ship again. Ideally drawn in gate four, she maps to settler right behind the speed again and fitter for those runs, she can make her presence felt here and looks well worth an each-way ticket.
