BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.1  ENCAP  ($2.15 with BoomBet)

Gary Portelli saddles-up ENCAP here who is yet to miss a top-three finish in six starts and looks the best of the day in this contest. Last start, the Capitalist gelding came off his win in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality when he faced Group 1 company for the first time and did well to beat all but Militarize in the Golden Rose (1400m). He should find this a little easier and is reunited with Brett Prebble who takes the reins for third time. The three-year-old shows plenty of promise (and potential) and will take a ton of beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 9:  No.4  QUEEN OF THE BALL  ($7 with Palmerbet)

The Michael Freedman-trained QUEEN OF THE BALL is third-up here and looks a serious player in this event. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare found them a little too sharp when she finished unplaced in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes, here over 1200m. She led most of the way, but weakened in the final 150m, beaten just 2.5 lengths on the line. Her Group 3 stats are most impressive, winning three times in the black-type company and finishing runner-up twice from six previous events. Rachel King sticks with her (having already steered her to victory twice previously). Ideally drawn in gate two, she should have little trouble leading again and already a winner when third-up, she should take catching here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.9  BIOGRAPHER  ($23 with Ladbrokes)

The Ron Quinton-trained BIOGRAPHER is in sensational form this preparation and looks well placed here at odds to worry some of these. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding made it six-straight podium finishes when he claimed third prize in a BM72 over 1100m at Canterbury. Jean Van Overmeire was aboard that day and has had six rides on the galloper now, for three wins and as many placings. This will be his first crack at BM78 company but he does drop 4kgs for the assignment and has Van Overmeire sticking with him as well. Already a two-time winner over the trip, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
