Rosehill Tips for Saturday, August 12

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 2 EXTREMELY LUCKY ($2.55)

South Australian punters will well remember EXTREMELY LUCKY who burst onto the racing scene as small to medium sized Murray Bridge trainer Sam Burford produced to score a phenomenal debut win at home. The horse was then immediately sold and sent to the powerful Will Clarken stable before working his way to an emphatic victory in the Lightning Stakes at Morphettville. Clarken then sent his enigma to the tight-turning Moonee Valley track with the aim of a Group 1 tilt. He was set a task in settling back and wide off a slow tempo as he ran home for third behind Bella Nipotina. Just never looked comfortable when following the field around in the Moir Stakes which was narrowly won by Coolangatta over Bella Nipotina. Has had the benefit of two trials in his adoptive state of New South Wales for his new trainer in Chris Waller.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 No. 9 CHORLTON LANE ($4.20)

Jason Collett produced a peach of a ride on CHORLTON LANE who was in all sorts of trouble to find a run upon entering the straight when resuming. Collett ensured space between his mount and the horse ahead as Powerful Peg attempted to keep Chorlton Lane inside the pocket. Collett balanced her between runners, and she knuckled down impressively to grab Plundering on the line. Chorlton Lane stays to weight as she finds herself up in class while since having the benefit of another run and a trial. Deserves to have a go at this class level.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 2 POWERFUL PEG ($8)

Josh Parr can give Powerful Peg a far kinder run in transit from the inside draw as to what the last-start winner received at Warwick Farm. Dylan Gibbons had to cop his medicine a bit as the mare jumped sharply from her wide gate. The pair received plenty of pressure back to their inside with Powerful Peg settling handy to the speed. Her Saturday racing ability shone through as she outclassed the midweek field to score a gutsy win over this trip. Back up in grade again with the confidence of that third-up win under her belt.
