BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.8  MARQUESS  ($2.90 with Ladbrokes)

James Cummings and J.Mac join forces again for this contest with MARQUESS second-up and looking to make it four-straight here. Last start, the Tavistock gelding resumed after almost a year off the scene and despite striking trouble in the run, still proved too good for them in a BM72 over 1300m at Warwick Farm. J.Mac was aboard that day for his first ride on the Godolphin galloper and sticks with him for this assignment. Up in grade here, he still comes in well at the weights and gets the gun-run from gate one well. Already a winner when second-up, he will take beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.2  WINEGLASS BAY  ($2.50 with Bet Right)

The Chris Waller-trained WINEGLASS BAY is three starts into this preparation and now looks ready to win. Last start, the New Bay gelding made it consecutive runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home again in a BM78 Hcp, here over 1800m with James McDonald (J.Mac) in the saddle. He looked the winner passing the 100m peg but was grabbed late on the line. He gets all the favours here from gate one where he maps to settle mid-field with plenty of cover. Meeting similar company here and a winner when fourth-up last preparation, he will take beating in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5:  No.7  SMASHING EAGLE  ($3.70 with Bet Right)

The locally-trained SMASHING EAGLE has found his mojo after four starts back and looks poised for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Shalaa gelding was fitter for three runs back when he gave his opposition a galloping lesson in a BM78 Hcp, here over 1100m. Ridden a treat by Tyler Schiller, he got the split near the 200m mark and went on with it, winning by more than a length on the line. Now, a track and distance winner, he should be at his peak for this assignment and with Schiller remaining in the saddle, he should be there at the finish.
