Race 1 No. 1 LATVIAN- ($3.80)
LATVIAN should find this easier than a first up effort that saw him finish 7th at Moonee Valley on September 3. The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained galloper settled handy that day before boxing on to finish three lengths away behind Shalaman, while the Caulfield Guineas contenders in Meridius and Millane filled the minors. He went 2.8 lengths faster than standard benchmark that day, which are the best last start figures of any runner and the second best that any horse in this field have set. Second up last time he was an improver when going from a 6th at Flemington to a win at Moonee Valley and he draws perfectly in barrier 4 with Blake Shinn to ride.

Race 7 No. 3 EVENTUALLY- ($7)
Taking on the daughter of Black Caviar in Invincible Caviar in Race 7. EVENTUALLY was an improver at her initial preparation, scoring at Balaklava before graduating to the $500,000 VOBIS Sires Guineas (1600m) and finishing runner-up behind Chartres. Form from that race has proven to be solid. 1200m might be a tad short but speed looks solid here and I expect her to be strong late in the piece.
