Race 8 No. 2 PUNCH LANE- ($2.70)

PUNCH LANE can just about make it back to back wins when he steps out in Race 8. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper was unlucky on debut at Geelong in a solid form race before heading to Seymour over the 1300m on April 14 and taking over in the straight to win well from Valenki. That horse has since come out and won by six lengths at Pakenham. Punch Lane has been smashed in the early betting for this and Ben Allen sticks on board.

Race 5 No 3 THE DUKE OF DUBAI- ($7)

THE DUKE OF DUBAI shapes as a sneaky contender at his first run back from a spell. The Mike Moroney-trained galloper steps out for the first time since November and was solid early on at his last preparation before some nice performances in similar or harder company than this. The four-year-old was runner-up over the unsuitable 1100m when resuming last time before winning at Sandown on a Soft deck. I like his form on tracks with a bit of give and he produced an excellent run on a Heavy track at Caulfield when 5th back in October. He might get conditions to suit with plenty of rain around and early market supports suggests that he is ready.
