Race 2 No. 7 GRINZINGER ABBEY- ($1.50)

Nice debut performance by GRINZINGER ABBEY at Seymour on June 6 and the Danny O’Brien-trained filly can just about go a couple of spots better when she steps out in Race 2. At Seymour, she settled handy and found the lead in the middle stages before being taken on a long way out, eventually going down in a three-way photo. The daughter of Exceed And Excel went 0.3 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is more than six lengths above the class average. Her run came on a Heavy track and she will get similar conditions on Thursday, while she should have improvement to come at her second start.

Race 6 No 1 FINE WEATHER- ($6)

FINE WEATHER should find this easier than a last start effort that saw him drop out of it at Sandown at a recent Saturday meeting on June 10. The five-year-old lined up at BenchMark 78 level over the 2400m that day and battled in the straight to finish 8th behind Strawberry Rock. He drops down to a BenchMark 64 for this and was a winner at BM70 level at Cranbourne two starts ago with that coming on a Heavy track. The chestnut is likely to get similar conditions for this assignment and the 2kg claim for Lachlan Overall gets him down to a winnable weight.
