ELLEN’S LICENCE can go on with the job in Race 3 of the day at Sandown. The Patrick Payne-trained galloper resumed at Donald on June 17 over the 1350m in a BenchMark 64, taking control with 600m to go before clearing out to win by three lengths. She closed off her last preparation with a win in a race that provided a number of winners, while she was just off the recent Silver Bowl winner, Golden Path, in a trial before her first up run. The daughter of Turffontein should have improvement to come at her second run this time in and can handle the step up to BenchMark 70.

Race 8 No 1 BIGOLINO- ($10)
Best Value comes up in the final event of the day and it is BIGOLINO that can go close at the each-way quote. Another from the Patrick Payne yard, the four-year-old is at peak fitness now and comes into this with a last start win over the 1400m under his belt when leading and kicking cleat to score by three from Magnetic Force. That was a bit of a soft win. He sticks to this grade and was solid when 4th behind Flash Flood at the track and trip two starts ago. Look for him to cross from the wide barrier and be in it for a long way with Laura Lafferty to ride.
