Sandown Tips 19/7/2023

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 6 No. 4  COTEL- ($4)

COTEL gets her chance in Race 6. The three-year-old has not won in her past six starts but was excellent at Flemington two starts ago when runner-up over the 1100m before being outclassed in the Listed Creswick Stakes (1200m) behind Renosu. The Peter Moody-trained galloper drops back to the 1000m and to BM70. A firmer in the early betting, she draws to do no work and will be ridden by Linda Meech, who provides a 15% profit on turnover when combining with Moody.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 4 No 4 ARNOLD- ($4.20)

ARNOLD can go close in Race 4 at Sandown. The new addition to the Maher/Eustace camp has had one start since switching and was posted midfield on a slow tempo at Sandown on a Heavy 9 over the 1400m on June 28. The four-year-old worked home well, producing the fastest last 200m to run 3rd behind Bigolino, who thrived in the going. He should get a drier track for this assignment and should be open to improvement at his second run back.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 5 No 2 EPIC CENTRE- ($6.50)

EPIC CENTRE should find this easier than a last start effort that saw him finish 3rd at Caulfield over the 1000m on June 24. The Clayton Douglas-trained galloper led them up in that race and couldn’t quite go with the likes of Flying On A Limb at the business end but did stick on well. He drops back to a BenchMark 70 and missed out in this grade in narrow fashion at his start prior behind Tax Free Prophet. Look for him to punch up from barrier 10 and take some catching.
