Race 6 No. 13 BOTANY- ($4.80)

BOTANY is worth a bit of thought in Race 6 of the day at Sandown. The Peter Moody-trained mare has been solid in this grade in recent times and seemed to appreciate the step up to the 1600m when running on for 3rd behind Unusual Culture at her most recent start. She settled worse than midfield and came out wide to go 5.3 lengths faster than standard benchmark in that race, which is the best last start figure of any runner. She was five weeks in between runs that day and has had a fortnight since. Daniel Stackhouse rides and the pair draw barrier 4.

Race 8 No 6 REALZEA – ($12.40)

REALZEA might be worth something in the final race of the day at Sandown. The back marker from the Gavin Bedggood camp has had the two runs this time in and last stepped out at Cranbourne over the 1200m on May 12, settling worse than midfield in a race in which they crawled early on. He made up some solid ground late in the piece to finish just a length off Van Roy. Pace looks a lot better here, while the step up to the 1400m should suit. Expect him to be running on strongly and with even luck in the run, the son of Bel Esprit can take this out.
