BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 3 WINE FROM TEARS – ($4.80)

Morphettville trainer Chris Bieg keeps the claim of stable apprentice Felicity Atkinson for WINE FROM TEARS tomorrow. Atkinson partnered Wine From Tears when the mare last saluted the judge in front. That was on a Heavy track at Clare while off a similar let-up between runs. The pair found little luck over this track and distance recently when Atkinson had no option but to come back off their wide draw in the big field. The pair searched for runs and went to the line largely untested. Has been to town twice since where Wine From Tears has put in handy enough performances. The break between runs has proven a winning formula for her already while the small field will suit.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3 No. 1 VEE ROD – ($3.40)

The Gordon Richards & Damien Moyle camp would be pleased in what they have seen with Kiwi import VEE ROD. Got a long way back when resuming over an unsuitable 1250 metre journey on the Morphettville Parks track. Certainly wasn’t the worst as he took tight runs as the race was over to finish a fair way off the winner. Lachlan Neindorf gave Vee Rod a treat as the team sent him out over 1400 metres second-up at Balaklava. The winner Pinchbeck had rolled forward to establish a winning break. Neindorf switched Vee Rod back through towards the fence with the pair giving chase. It would be to no avail as Pinchbeck came away for a solid win while Vee Rod continued to come away from the rest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 2 SANTELMO FUEGO – ($6.50)

Recent racing has left us with smaller fields which means we won’t be having any big longshots as our value bets at Strathalbyn. The smaller field also works in the favour of Ryan Hurdle, who has the job of guiding SANTELMO FUEGO. Trainer Grant Young has the horse building into his prep which began with a placing over this track and trip five starts ago. Santelmo Fuego hasn’t been beaten far in his subsequent runs in town as Young stepped him out in trip. Comes back to the mile in a race which Hurdle can control from the front. Santelmo Fuego has the toughness edge and can force the others to carry their weight on a deteriorating track.
