Race 5 No. 1 LORD MORTON – ($4.20)

We are seeing the locally trained LORD MORTON improving race by race with trainer David Jolly finding an opportunity for his horse to win another race on Wednesday. Settled off the speed in a fast run 1200 metre race here second-up. Loomed ominously on straightening without going on with it inside the furlong. Jolly then had a throw at the stumps for some silverware over 1350 metres in the Vignerons Cup last start. Senior rider Jeff Maund gave him a cold ride in an attempt for Lord Morton to find the line. The pair weren’t beaten all that far with this a big step back in grade. Tongue tie goes on as does stable apprentice Caitlyn Munro who has been riding in some good form of late.

Race 1 No. 3 KETCHIKAN – ($2.20)

We should see some early pace in the opener at Strathalbyn Racecourse on Wednesday with Hussling rolling forward. The locally trained Camberwood has also been ridden forward at his most recent runs, and we would expect to see him apply a little bit of early pressure. This should allow Alana Livesey to cross into a handy position with KETCHIKAN who has improved at his past couple. Livesey found herself as a seemingly unintended leader aboard Ketchikan over 2121 metres at Gawler last start. The horse found plenty into the straight, only to run into a better one in Maiden Flight. Those two gapped the rest, including Cuban Lord who has since come out to win at Murray Bridge.

Race 7 No. 10 STONEFIELD – ($9.10)

We’ll search all the way down to the bottom of the page to land on our value selection of the day with STONEFIELD. The beauty of this race is that each and every runner all find themselves back in class on recent runs. Finding the horse with a killer punch may prove difficult; however, we don’t mind the last couple of runs from Stonefield. He got back as per usual under senior rider Sairyn Fawke before making steady ground as the widest runner at Gawler. Pay to forgive his latest effort as Fawke came back towards the rail at Balaklava last start. Happy to go with the adage of backing apprentices in the wet as Maggie Collett gets the go ahead from trainer Garret Lynch.
