BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.9 POCKET FULL ($2.80 with Palmerbet)
Only a small field contests this event but the locally-trained POCKET FULL looks well placed to give the odds-on favourite a real run for his money today. Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding lived-up to the cliché of three times proves it when he broke through for his Maiden win, here over the 1000m trip. He ran a new personal best that day, running the trip out, 2.3 lengths slower than benchmark, second-best only to the race favourite, Antino (who carries top weight today as he resumes from a 35-week absence). Fitter for that first-up win and already a winner at the track, he lines up here better at the weights and gets the gun-run (drawn the fence after early scratchings) and is far better value here today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.7 TICK TOCK QUEEN ($2.10 with bet365)
Tony Gollan saddles-up TICK TOCK QUEEN here who is third-up today and looks in the mix. Two starts back, the Bel Esprit mare had her first start for the Gollan camp after transferring from the Wendy Kelly stables in Cranbourne. It was instant success as she won her Maiden that day on this track. Then last start, she found BM65 company a little too strong at Ipswich, finishing mid-field that day. Today, she returns to where it all began for her and should find this assignment a little easier. Ben Thompson remains in saddle and stepping up in distance today also looks ideal. Fitter for two runs back, she looks a prime contender here.
BEST VALUE 💰
RAce 8: No.4 SIAN STAR ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
Locally-trained by Darryl Hansen, SIAN STAR has the blinkers off for the first time and third-up today, looks a genuine winning chance here. Last start, the Star Turn gelding was second-up as he came off a home-track maiden win when he did well to finish third in a harder BM65 over 1350m at Ipswich. He ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 6.5 lengths slower than benchmark, second-best only to Atlantic Royal (who is yet to win here after 10 previous visits). He drops in grade today and maps to settle in the first half-dozen from gate six. Already a winner here and down in grade, he looks right in the firing line to bounce back today.
