BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.4  RALPHIE  ($2.70 with bet365)

Gold Coast galloper RALPHIE is reaching his potential of late and this contest looks right up his alley. Last start, the Bel Esprit gelding finished bridesmaid for the second consecutive time when he beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp, here over the 1000m sprint. Ridden back this time, he had to bullock his way clear in the run home where he finished strongly to get within a length of the winner. He ran his 600m, 4.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by 5 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Today he avoids being caught wide as he gets the gun run from gate one. He still maps to settle near mid-field but saves ground along the fence. Sean Cormack sticks with him today as he drops in grade and if he can secure a clear run to the line, he can beat this lot home.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.9  YOU’LL BE MIST  ($4.20 with Neds)

Local galloper YOU’LL BE MIST is a track (and distance) specialist and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories tonight. Last start, the Headwater mare came off a hat-trick of fourth-place finishes and brought up her first win for this preparation. Caught wide early, she finished too strong for them, taking out a BM58 Hcp, here over the 1000m sprint. She covered the trip, 1 length slower than benchmark, still the best in this field by 3 lengths. Cody Collis sticks with her tonight and the mare drops 3.5kgs as she steps up in grade here. Seven previous starts over this track and trip have resulted in four wins and three minor placings so she is yet to miss a podium finish over the 1000m journey. A lot of early pace here suggests she will take a sit near mid-field with cover and be looking for that opening on straightening. A clear run home can see her bringing up back-to-back victories tonight.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 1:  No.3  CONFESSED  ($9 with Palmerbet)

The Kris Lees-trained CONFESSED returns for her second visit to Corbould Park and looks a genuine chance of going one better tonight. Last start, the Press Statement mare showed a ton of improvement when she beat all but one to the line in a Class 4 Hcp, here over the 1400m trip. She ran her last 600m, 3.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here, while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals as well. Andrew Mallyon returns for today’s assignment where she comes up with the outside gate. There is a lot of early pace drawn inside her here and as a known back-marker, she will simply cross and take a sit behind the battle up front. She left her run a little late last start, so provided Mallyon keeps in touch with them, she will have the opportunity to run them down when it matters. Rock-hard fit after four runs back, she looks in the mix here at odds.
