Race 2:  No.7  SOO SWEET  ($2.40 with bet365)

The Team Edmonds-trained SOO SWEET has found the podium in all six career starts to date and looks perfectly placed here to make seven today. Last start, the Sooboog filly ran them off their legs in a BM58 over 1100m on the synthetic track at the Gold Coast. With Jaspar Franklin in the saddle for the first time, she sat at the leader’s girth to the turn, then did a ‘road runner’ and left them all behind to fight out the minors as she went on to win by 3.5 lengths over the line. Franklin sticks with her for this assignment where she gets the gun-run from gate one and will take a ton of beating in this contest.

Race 5:  No.2  DEEP TEMPEST  ($3.40 with bet365)

David Vandyke saddles-up DEEP TEMPEST here who is third-up and looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Ocean Park gelding was second-up and improved enough to beat home a Class 3 field, here over 1400m. James Orman was aboard for the first time and he took the five-year-old to the lead and hung on for a game win. He steps-up to the mile here where he placed second in his only previous attempt at the distance. Orman remains aboard for this assignment and from gate four, may choose to take a sit with plenty of early speed out wide here as they cross and look to settle on speed. Already a two-time winner at the track, a trouble-free run here should put him right in the firing line for back-to-back victories today.

Race 6:  No.7  YANGARI  ($11.20 with BoomBet)

The Robert Heathcote-trained YANGARI has run into a bit of form lately and a repeat of his last couple of runs puts him into the mix here at odds today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding came off an impressive win here in BM68 company when he stepped-up to a Class 5 challenge and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth (beaten just over a length) in the 1800m contest on this track. He has been let-up for the past eight weeks and comes back today with Boris Thornton on board. He should find this a bit easier (having already won at this level) and all four career-wins have come on the Corbould Park track as well. (Currently) at double-figure odds, he looks a tad ‘overs’ today and a trouble-free run here can see him on the podium again.
