Race 4:  No.7  VERY INTOXICATING  ($4.40 with Palmerbet)

The Chris Anderson-trained VERY INTOXICATING is in sensational form this preparation and looks the testing material here tonight. Last start, the Pierro mare made it three from four when she beat home a 14-strong field in a Class 2 Hcp over 1400m at Eagle Farm. She ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 2.5 lengths quicker than benchmark and ran the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals as well. While most eyes will be on the return of the Mayfield-Smith-trained Tarex (who resumes off a four-month break), this Pierro mare has been knocking walls down and being a Callaghan Park specialist (winning twice here already), surely just bad luck prevents her from bringing up the hat-trick tonight.

Race 7:  No.3  HALFAHOPE  ($4.50 with Ladbrokes)

Chris Anderson saddles-up HALFAHOPE here who’s resume shows his chances here are much more than his name suggests. Last start, the Outreach gelding came off a BM58 victory on this track when he stepped up sharply in grade and faced Class 3 company at Toowoomba. Coming from mid-field on the turn, he fought on gamely to finish just behind the placegetters, taking home the fourth-place ribbon for his efforts. Coming back to BM58 company tonight, he is joined by Marnu Potgieter for the first time and after his claim, the four-year-old comes in well at the weights, carrying the same weight he carried two starts back when he beat home a similar field. Already a two-time winner at the track and trip, he is certainly in the mix tonight.

Race 6:  No.1  ABSOLUTE CHARMER  ($4.60 with Palmerbet)

Locally-trained by David Vandyke, ABSOLUTE CHARMER has found the podium at his past three starts this preparation and back on home soil tonight, he will take some beating here. Last start, the Charge Forward gelding came off a Class 1 win over the mile (on this track) when he stepped up to Class 2 company for the first time and wasn’t disgraced, finishing third over the same trip at Ipswich with Ben Thompson aboard. Back on home soil tonight, he is reunited with Ryan Maloney who boasts an impressive 38% success rate with the Vandyke stable now four starts into this campaign, he will be rock-hard fit and hard to beat in this contest.
