Kurt Goldman saddles-up NEGATION here who is second-up today and looks set take the glory here. Last start, the Hellbent mare resumed from a 17-week spell and did well to find the podium that day. She wide and settled back in the field before putting in the big ones in the run home and arriving in time to claim third prize in the 1200m BM60 with Jasper Franklin in the saddle. Franklin steers the ship again today and although the mare has drawn wide, she will start closer to the inside after several early scratchings. Her only start on a heavy track resulted in a win at Goulburn. Already a winner when second-up and a winner at the track, she can give this contest a real shake today.

Race 2:  No.3  DIANA’S AFFAIR  ($3.25 with BoomBet)

The Kelly Schweida-trained DIANA’S AFFAIR found her mojo quickly this time in and looks well placed in the conditions for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Merchant Navy gelding took on a BM65 field, here on wet track and clobbered them in the 1800m contest. With Ben Thompson aboard, he settled just behind the speed and inside the last 200m, took control and went on to score by more than a length on the line. Thompson sticks with him here and from gate six, maps to settle just off the speed again. Already a winner at the track and distance and a two-time winner on rain affected tracks, she has to go in here.

Race 6:  No.8  KOZANI  ($15 with bet365)

One at odds today is the Jack Bruce-trained KOZANI who ticks enough boxes here to generate plenty of interest in this contest. Last start, the Sepoy gelding was second-up when he turned an unplaced, first-up effort into a victory when he arrived in time to snatch a win at Warwick in a BM62 over 1100m. A drifter in the market that day ($5-$8.50), Corey Bayliss weaved his way through traffic to score, carrying 59kgs on a rain affected track. Bayliss sticks with him here where he is already a winner at the Corbould Park track and while he steps-up a little in grade today, he drops in weight and is two from two on wet tracks. At (currently) double-figure odds, he looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
