Race 2 : No. 3 CARRIBEAN KING ($1.75 with Unibet)
Third-up today, the Stuart Kendrick-trained CARRIBEAN KING looks ready to pounce and take out this contest on his home track. Last start, the Sweynesse gelding finished bridesmaid again when he beat all but one home in a Class 2 Plate, here over 1000m. An absolute tragedy beaten that day, James Orman had him box-seating all the way, but never got a crack at them, having to cross heels inside the final 100m where he finished strongly for the runner-up cheque. Drawing the outside here looks to be a blessing in the small seven-horse field as he should avoid being trapped inside again. I do believe we will see a different Carribean King today.

Race 6 : No. 3 KIPPAX ($3.60 with Palmerbet)
The Helen Page-trained KIPPAX is third-up today and has done enough so far (this time in) to suggest he is ready to pounce. Last start, the Tavistock gelding was beaten just over a length when he finished third in a BM65 Hcp over 1666m at Ipswich. He ran the last 600m, 3.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 3 lengths. Drawn to do no work in gate three, Kyle Wilson-Taylor retains the ride and fitter for those two runs back, he looks a genuine winning chance today.

Race 7 : No. 5 ARCHDEACON ($6.50 with Neds)
The Robert Heathcote-trained ARCHDEACON is two starts into this preparation and looks a solid winning chance as he makes his track debut today. Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding was second-up when he beat all but one home in a BM68 Hcp over 1200m at Doomben. He ran that out, 4.8 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Already placed twice in two previous third-up runs, James Orman is in control here and from gate four, he should give a good account of himself at odds today.
