Race 5: No.2 OSTERBERG ($3.20 with Ladbrokes)
We lose half the field through early scratchings here which makes the job that much easier for the Kris Lees-trained OSTERBERG to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Impending gelding clobbered his Class 1 rivals when he put 2.5 lengths on them, here in the 1000m contest. That made it two from two at the track and trip and a similar stat for jockey Andrew Mallyon who remains in the saddle today. He steps up in grade here but has the runs on the board to suggest the transition to Class 2 opposition won’t be a big problem for him. Unbeaten at the track and distance, he looks set to go on with it today.

Race 7: No.6 SPILL THE TEARS ($5.50 with Bet Right)
Robert Heathcote saddles-up SPILL THE TEARS here who is in top-shelf form this preparation and will take beating in this contest. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding was fresh off an 18-week spell when he wasn’t disgraced, finishing fourth in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1000m. Unplaced in three first-up appearances, he did well to cross the line just 1.5 lengths behind the winner that day. Mark Du Plessis was aboard that day and sticks with him here. Already a winner when second-up, the 1200m will suit much better today and ideally drawn in gate four, he will be running on here where it counts.

Race 4: No.9 LEORED ($13 with Bet Right)
Local galloper LEORED has notched-up all three career wins here and sporting a gear change today, looks set for more success. Last start, the Love Conquers All gelding ran home well to grab third prize in a BM65 Hcp, here over 1800m. That effort followed a win in easier company over the same track and distance. Ben Thompson was aboard on both occasions and sticks with the five-year-old today. The stable have removed the blinkers and put the winkers back on for this contest. Nicely drawn in gate five, he can give this a real shake at odds today.
