Gold Coast galloper SINGER SARGENT is the rookie of the field here with jut three race starts on his resume but he has done enough to suggest he upset a few of them here today. Last start, the Spieth gelding improved from two-straight minor placings when he lined-up in a Grafton Maiden and came from behind to claim a comfortable victory in the 1720m event. He ran his last 600m, 3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Trainer, Kacy Fogden, brings the three-year-old north to see the Corbould Park track for the first time and with Andrew Mallyon retaining the ride, he looks a strong chance for back-to-back victories here today.

Local galloper LEORED is third-up today and ticks enough boxes here to warrant plenty of respect in this contest. Last start, the Love Conquers All gelding was second-up and showed plenty of improvement when he came from well back to finish mid-field in a Class 2 Hcp, here over the mile. Beaten just over a length on the line, he settled last and was conceding them eight lengths before the turn. He ran home strongly and did well to finish as close as he did. Taylor Marshall was aboard for the five-year-old’s two career wins to date and returns here for today’s assignment. Already a track and distance winner here, fitter for two runs back, he looks a serious player in this contest.
