Race 2: No.7 ROSE OF DUPORTH ($4.40 with Palmerbet)

Stuart Kendrick saddles-up ROSE OF DUPORTH here as the ever-consistent mare seeks her second win on the Corbould Park track. Last start, the Duporth mare resumed from an 18-week break when she caught the eye in finishing third in a Class 2 Hcp, here over the 1000m sprint. Coming from near last on the turn, she made up good ground in the run home to grab that last podium spot. She ran her last 600m, 4.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field while posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. Tiff Brooker returns for the ride and she boasts a Midas touch with the mare, having not missed a top-three finish in seven previous rides. From gate six, she maps to settle near mid-field and fitter for that first-up run, she will appreciate the step-up in distance here (having already won over the 1400m journey. She has proven to be a prolific placegetter with 12 of her 21 starts ending in a minor-money finish but second-up tonight, she gets her chance to bring up career-win number three.

Race 7: No.5 LUCAMOUR ($6 with Unibet)

Gold Coast galloper, LUCAMOUR, has found the podium at his past three starts, putting him in contention for a track debut win tonight. Last start, the son of German sire Lucas Cranach (a 2011 Melbourne Cup placegetter), came off a win at Ipswich (over 2180m) when he beat all but one home at Grafton in a BM58 over the 2200m journey. Carrying 58.5kgs, he was beaten a length that day but still recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. He has won in heavy going previously which helps with a track forecast of a Heavy 8 in place for tonight. Adin Thompson steered him to that Ipswich victory and is back for tonight’s assignment. Most boxes are ticked here and he will line up as one of the major players in this contest.
