BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.1 JAKKALBERRY FINN ($2.30 with bet365)
Locally-trained by David Vandyke, JAKKALBEERY FINN is third-up today and looks well placed here as he faces the synthetic track for the first time. Last start, the Jakkalberry gelding improved greatly to finish just behind the placegetters in a Class 1 Hcp over 1600m at Eagle Farm. He ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 1.9 lengths slower than benchmark, the best here by more than 3 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m and 600m sectionals for the race. Today, Kyle Wilson-Taylor has his first ride on the six-year-old and boasts a 25% success rate with the stable. If he handles the track, he is a genuine threat here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.4 THE RATTLESNAKE ($2.90 with Palmerbet)
Chris Anderson saddles-up THE RATTLESNAKE here who is three starts into this preparation and should be ready to win today. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding wasn’t too far away when finishing mid-field in a BM60 Hcp, here over 1000m on the turf course. Although missing a top-three finish, he still ran his last 600m, 2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 6 lengths. Placed at his only start on the poly-track, he draws well here in gate four and Steph Thornton is aboard for the fourth time, boasting two runner-up finishes with him previously. He will be at his peak here and should be there at the finish.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.8 MISS TOO FLY ($3.90 with Palmerbet)
Local galloper MISS TOO FLY has resumed in great touch and third-up today looks a winning chance in this field. Last start, the Better Than Ready mare beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp over 1400m, here on the turf track. Beaten just over a length on the line, she ran the last 600m, 3.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. Today, she sees the poly track for the first time and gets plenty of favours here. Ben Thompson is aboard and is yet to miss a podium finish on the mare after three rides. She is ideally drawn in gate three where she maps to settle just behind the pace with cover. Lining up just 1.5kgs over the limit, she is nicely weighted today and fitter for those two runs back, she should prove hard to hold out here.
