BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.2 KERNEL BOOM ($6 with bet365)
The Robert Heathcote-trained KERNEL BOOM was mighty impressive on debut and has what it takes to upset the Team Edmonds-trained race-favourite tonight. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding made his racing debut, here in a 1000m Maiden Plate where he came from well back to finish all over the top of them and take it out by a length on the line. He ran his last 600m, 3.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 2 lengths. Ben Thompson drove him home that day and has thew reins again for this contest. He should strip even fitter for that run and should prove mighty hard to beat here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.3 FREEDOM AVENUE ($4.80 with Palmerbet)
The Team Sears-trained FREEDOM AVENUE has finally found his mojo and looks set to go on with it here. Last start, the Eurozone gelding made easy work of it when taking out a Class 1 Hcp, here on the synthetic track. He ran the 1600m trip out, 6 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this line-up. He also ran the fastest final 200m sectional for the race. Jake Molloy was aboard for that win and sticks with him here. He maps to settle in the first two or three pairs from gate seven and already placed at his only start on the turf track here, he looks big chance for back-to-back wins tonight.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.4 FIGHTING COMMANDO ($10 with BlueBet)
Gold Coast galloper FIGHTING COMMANDO is second-up tonight and looks well placed here to register track victory number four. Last start, the Fighting Sun gelding was fresh off a 17-week absence when he finished a gallant third in a BM72 Hcp over 1300m at Toowoomba. He covered his last 600m, 7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 4 lengths. Minonette Kennedy was aboard that night and has the job again tonight. Ideally drawn in gate two here, he maps to be parked right behind the pace and fitter for that first-up run, he can give this a real shake at odds.
