Our form expert provides Sunshine Coast tips for today’s horse racing at Sunshine Coast Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.4  BETTER YET  ($4.80 with Neds)

The O’Dea & Hoysted camp saddle-up BETTER YET here who ticks all the boxes today that suggest she is the one beat in this contest. Last start, the Better Than Ready mare got it all together when she did best to take out a BM58 Hcp, here over the mile trip. Ridden a treat by Ben Thompson that day, she sat on the leader’s girth and on straightening, Thompson said go, and away she went, winning comfortably in the end. Thompson sticks with her for this assignment and from gate six, she maps to settle in the first half dozen. Now a two-time winner at Corbould Park, she looks ready for the class rise today and should take plenty of beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.7  CRAZY BRAVE  ($4.60 with Ladbrokes)

The Annabel Neasham-trained CRAZY BRAVE is back to his best form and with plenty of boxes ticked here, he looks well placed for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the Zoustar gelding came off an unplaced effort against city class gallopers when he did best to take out a BM68, here over 1400m. He had the run of the race that day (settling in the one, one) and proved to be too good in the run home, hanging on in a tight finish. Rock-hard fit after four starts this preparation, he gets the gun-run today from gate one and has a new rider with Damien Thornton in the saddle for the first time. Now a winner at the track and trip, he should take beating from that draw.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.9  QUEEN’S SECRET  ($19 with BoomBet)

The Stuart Kendrick-trained QUEEN’S SECRET is third-up today and looks ready to rock. Last start, the Spill The Beans mare was second-up off a lengthy 38-week break when she wasn’t disgraced, finishing mid-field in a Class 1 Hcp, here over the 1000m sprint. The runs back should have her in good steed for this contest as she steps up to the 1200m today. Bailey Wheeler returns for his second ride on the mare and from an ideal draw in gate two, she maps to settle right behind the speed. Fitter for those two runs back and already a winner here, she comes up as outstanding value today and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
