The American Pharoah galloper ANCIENT EGYPT has his second start for the Barry Lockwood stable today and second-up here, looks the pick of the day. Last start, former Peter Moody trained gelding made his stable debut for the Lockwood camp and impressed by beating all but one in a Class 2 Hcp over 1350m at Doomben. Coming from mid-field, he finished strongly to miss the major prize by a neck on the line. He sees the Corbould track for the first time today but is already a winner when second-up. Leading rider James Orman is legged aboard for this assignment and with a trouble-free run, the five-year-old should take beating today.

Race 7:  No.9  SET TO SHINE  ($7 with Ladbrokes)

Tony Gollan saddles-up SET TO SHINE here who is first-up off a 21-week break and looks right up to this contest. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare finished off her first campaign beating all but one home in a Class 1 Plate over 1200m at Eagle Farm. She did it tough that day, settling outside the leader and was run down near the line, beaten half a length in the end. Regular stable rider Angela Jones has the reins today after riding the mare comes in a recent trial at Doomben. Ideally drawn in gate two here, she looks a serious contender for the main prize at odds.

Race 6:  No.8  WINE NOT ROSES  ($13 with BlueBet)

Local galloper WINE NOT ROSES resumes from a 10-week spell today and ticks enough boxes to suggest she may be a tad ‘overs’ here. Last start, the Mikki Isle mare ended her last campaign in a blaze of glory, taking out the Kilcoy Cup over 1200m. She drew wide that day (8 of 9), and after settling mid-field, finished strongly enough to reel them in and grab the Cup right on the line. She loves racing here with her 16 starts at the track resulting in nine podium finishes and she has won here over the trip as well. She comes in well at the weights and after the claim, carries just 54kgs today. Already a winner when first-up, she looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
