BEST BET 🏆

Race 6:  No.1  LA AMIGO  ($5 with Neds)

Locally-trained by Stuart Kendrick, LA AMIGO comes off a city stint here and looks better suited at home today. Last start, the Squamosa gelding wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM85 Hcp over 1110m at Doomben. Beaten less than two lengths that day, he did set a new personal best, running that trip out, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark. James Orman was aboard that day and is in charge for this assignment as well. The five-year-old is well and truly a track specialist here with his 10 starts at Corbould Park resulting in five wins and three other podium finishes. He steps-up to a more suitable distance today and after those four runs, he should be at his peak today and looks the testing material.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.2  SUILVEN  ($8 with Ladbrokes)

The Lindsay Gough-trained SUILVEN is the veteran of the field here but has been in top form of late and looks to have fitness on his side today. Last start, the Snitzel gelding made it look easy when he easily accounted for a BM62 Hcp over 1400m at Beaudesert. He ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 1.3 lengths quicker than benchmark while recording the fastest final 400m and 200m sectionals for the event. Georgina Cartwright was aboard for that run and sticks with him here. Now a nine-year-old, his resume shows the old fella still has what it takes and has fitness on the more fancied runners here who are all resuming, none of which have ever saluted on fresh legs. All six career wins have come on dry tracks for Suilven and a forecast Good 4 today looks right up his alley today. At least an each-way ticket today.
