Race 3: No.2 SAILOR ($2.70 with Ladbrokes)
The Kris Lees-trained SAILOR is shooting for the hat-trick here and looks well placed in this company to pull it off. Last start, the Ocean Park gelding made it back-to-back wins when drifting from $4 to $8, he took out a BM75 over the mile at Doomben. He ran his last 600m, 5.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals as well. Andrew Mallyon is two from two with the five-year-old and sticks with him here. Winning form is good form and he does look poised to make it three-straight here.

Race 9: No.5 PERSEIDS ($6.50 with Palmerbet)
Natalie McCall saddles-up local galloper PERSEIDS here who is in great touch this time in and looks well placed for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Star Witness gelding brought up his second home-track win when he took out an Open Class Hcp, ere over 1000m. He ran his last 600m, 7.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line up. Nikita Beriman retains the ride and already a two-time winner here, he should prove hard to hold out again.

Race 8: No.5 ROMAN AUREUS ($6 with bet365)
The Brian Wakefield-trained ROMAN AUREUS is second-up here and boasting a strong record, looks a big chance here at odds. Last start, the Red Element gelding was fresh off a lengthy 28 week spell when he finished strongly enough to take out an Open company event over 1200m at Toowoomba. He has placed in a trial since then. The blinkers come off here (again) and he has Larry Cassidy sticking with him, after riding him to all eight career victories to date. He gets the gun-run from gate one here and already a winner when second-up, he looks a good investment in this contest.
