Race 4:  No.5  ROCKBARTON ROMAN  ($3.30 with BoomBet)

Newcastle galloper ROCKBARTON ROMAN sees the Tamworth track for the first time today but in great touch this preparation, looks a genuine winning chance here. Last start, the Rubick gelding got it together and fourth-up proved too good for them in a Class 2 Hcp over 1500m at Port Macquarie. Aaron Bullock rode him a treat that day, stalking the leaders then striking halfway home and doing best to bring up win number three to date. This looks no harder and from gate one, he gets all the favours again and looks the goods in this line-up.

Race 6:  No.9  INNERVOICE  ($3.50 with Ladbrokes)

The Scone-based mare INNERVOICE, finished runner-up at her only start here and today looks set to go one better in this contest. Last start, the daughter of Poet’s Voice came off a hat-trick of runner-up finishes when she just missed a podium finish, taking home fourth prize in a BM74 Hcp over 1200m at Dubbo. She settled too far back that day and was doing her best work late, finishing strongly in the final 200m. Christian Reith takes the reins today and from gate two, the mare maps to settle mid-field on the fence with plenty of cover. If she can secure a clear run to the line, the extra trip here should see her fight this one out.

Race 3:  No.10  LONHREEL  ($4 with Palmerbet)

The Kris Lees-trained LONHREEL has done everything but win this time in and today she gets another chance to shake the Maiden monkey off her back. Last start, the Lonhro filly made it a hat-trick of minor placings when she beat all but one home in a Port Macquarie Maiden over 1500m. She crossed over to lead on settling which was unlike her usual racing patten and did well to hang on for the runner-up’s prize that day. There is a bit of early speed drawn outside her today so it will be interesting to see what tactics Andrew Gibbons applies in this contest. From gate seven, she could find herself settling just behind the pace here and should that occur, she will have something left for a big finish. Rock-hard fit after four starts this preparation, she looks a major contender today.
