The Kris Lees-trained CORVALIST is third-up today and after two podium finishes this time in, now looks ready to win. Last start, the Capitalist gelding beat all but one to the line in a 1200m Maiden at Scone. With Benjamin Osmond aboard, he took the lead inside the final 200m but was grabbed by the $1.70 race-favourite and had to settle for second prize. Fitter for two runs back, Osmond sticks with him today and a trouble-free run here should see him taking the honours in this contest.

Race 8:  No.8  CLUNY ROAD  ($6 with Bet Right)

Todd Howlett saddles-up CLUNY ROAD here and third-up here looks a serious chance of back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Defcon gelding improved from his first-up effort when he clobbered a Class 1 field over 1000m at Gunnedah. He settled behind the speed that day and once clear, ran away with it and put 2.5 lengths on them in the process with Madeline Owen in the saddle. Owen has her seventh ride on the three-year-old today who gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating again. Fitter for two runs back and coming off a solid win, he looks the testing material here at odds.

Race 5:  No.5  TAYLA’S ONE  ($6 with Ladbrokes)

Local galloper TAYLA’S ONE has come back in blistering form and looks poised for another bold performance today. Last start, the Super One mare made it four-straight top-two finishes when she beat all but one home in a Class 2, here over 1412m. That day, she stepped-up in class and distance and had to deal with a heavy track for the first time as well. She drops back to the 1250m trip today and has regular rider Zac Wadick remaining aboard for this assignment. She is a two-time winner on her home soil and with a clear passage to the line, she could prove hard to hold out today at good odds.
