Race 5:  No.4  ENSIGN PARKER  

The Cessnock galloper, ENSIGN PARKER is second-up here and having found the podium at his past three outings, he has strong claims here to take home the major prize today. Last start, the Merchant Navy gelding was fresh off a 15-week break when he finished a close-up third in a BM58 Hcp over the 900m sprint at Scone. That contest proved to be a little short for him and today, he looks much more at home over today’s trip. Luke Rolls steers the ship for the first time as the three-year-old maps to settle better than mid-field here. Fitter for that first-up run, he will take beating in this contest.

Race 1:  No.6  FARRAIGE 

The Greg Hickman-trained FARRAIGE has shown improvement after three career-starts and now looks ready win. Last start, the Ocean Park gelding stepped-up to the 2000m journey and fared well, finishing strongly in the Class 1 event at Canberra, taking home fourth prize that day. Jeff Penza has his first ride on the three-year-old today who will do little to no early work from gate three as he maps to settle back in the field again. At his peak after three starts now, he will be doing his best late and be there at the finish.

Race 6:  No.3  POLISHED 

The Donna Grisedale-trained POLISHED is third-up today and looks right in this contest. Last start, the Dissident gelding improved off his first-up effort when he beat all but one home in a BM58 over the mile on his home track at Coffs Harbour. He ran home strongly that day, just beaten by one better in the run home. Meeting similar company here, Ben looker is the new pilot and nicely drawn in gate three, he maps to settle on the fence, just behind the speed again. Already a winner when third-up and with past success over the 1600m, he looks great value here and well worth an each-way ticket today.
