Race 8: No.8 CHIKY CHIKY MAMA ($4.20 with bet365)
Stephen Jones saddles-up CHIKY CHIKY MAMA here who is second-up and in line for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Nicconi mare was fresh off a six-month absence when she led all the way to break through for her maiden win over 1000m at Tamworth. Showing good speed she kept them all at bay, going on to win by a length over the line. She also recorded the fastest final 800m sectional for the race. She makes her track debut here and fitter for that first-up run, she may take catching in this contest.

Race 7: No.8 IMATRUESTAR ($6 with Neds)
Local galloper, IMATRUESTAR, is second-up today and with a gear change here, ticks enough boxes to be among the leading chances today. Last start, the Star Turn gelding resumed off a 19-week spell and facing strong Class 2 competition at Rosehill, finished last of the 12-strong field. He settled well back that day and didn’t have much luck in the run home. He ran the trip out, 1.7 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this field. Already a winner when second-up and a winner here on his home track, he returns to country competition and we can expect a big improvement from him today.

Race 6: No.12 STIORRA ($11 with Palmerbet)
Wyong-based galloper STIORRA showed enough on debut to suggest she can be even more competitive in this contest. Last start, the Ad Valorem filly made her debut in a 1000m Maiden Plate at Tamworth and was in the fight until the final 100m when she finished fifth in the 12-strong field. She will learn a lot from that debut run and has Jenny Duggan sticking with her today. Nicely drawn in gate five, she maps to settle near the speed and should have plenty of cover from the 12-strong field. A more than likely improver, she is well worth an each-way ticket today.
