BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.4 OCTOBER REVOLUTION
Port Macquarie galloper, OCTOBER REVOLUTION boasts a strong record here and in good form of late, looks the testing material in this contest. Two starts back, the Russian Revolution gelding was impressive when taking out a BM58, here over the 1000m sprint while lumping 62.5kgs on a Soft 7 that day. Then last start, he rose sharply in grade when taking on Open company at Coffs Harbour where he finished mid-field, beaten less than three lengths on the line. He drops back to Class 4 competition here and after the claim, carries even less weight than his last start. Braith Nock is the new pilot today where he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be parked just behind the speed. A trouble-free run here sees him in the box-seat and should prove hard to hold out today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.10 THE COAT HANGER
The heavy track has brought about plenty of early scratchings here as we run with THE COAT HANGER who is three starts into this campaign and should now be ready fire. Last start, the Shamus Award mare improved from a poor showing at Tamworth when she took home third prize in a BM58, here over the mile trip. With Jenny Duggan aboard, she drew the outside gate (12) and did it tough in the run but still ran home well, pipped on the post for the silver medal. Duggan sticks with her today where she fares much better at the barrier, drawing gate five today. At her peak here, she looks a serious player in this line up.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.4 OBLIVION
The John Sprague-trained OBLIVION is second-up today and if he can overcome his wide draw, he looks a real danger in this contest. Last start, the Winning Rupert gelding was fresh after 18 weeks in the paddock when he beat all but one home, here in a BM58 over 1007m. He settled mid-field and finished strongly, beaten less than a length on the line. He has the outside gate to deal with today but maps to cross and settle near mid-field again. Braith Nock is the new pilot and his 1.5kg claim will help here. Already a winner when second-up and has success at the track and distance as well, he is certainly a contender today at good odds.
