BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.4  CONVINCEBILITY  ($3.90 with Palmerbet)

First-up today, the Kris Lees-trained CONVINCEBILITY ticks enough boxes to put him right in the mix here. Last start, the Hellbent gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when he came up short, finishing fourth in a BM64 Hcp over 1400m at Newcastle. After three runs in that campaign, he was spelled and since returning to work has trialled on three occasions, placing in his most recent gallop. He returns to racing today after 18 weeks off the scene and will wear blinkers for the first time. Darryl McLellan has ridden him to both career wins to date and remains in the saddle for today’s assignment. Already a winner when first-up and a winner at the track and distance, he looks the testing material here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6:  No.4  MISS SHALAA  ($5.40 with BoomBet)

Jason Deamer saddles-up MISS SHALAA here who has proven to be a model of consistency in her nine starts to date and looks well placed here to bounce back to the winner’s circle today. Last start, the Shalaa mare had an off-day which saw her finish unplaced for only the second time in a BM66 over 1600m at Tamworth. The Heavy 10 rated track would surely have contributed to her performance that day. She returns to Taree today where her two starts here resulted in a win and a close-up second, both on ‘soft’ rated tracks. With a Soft 5 forecast today, conditions look ideal for her as Ben Looker is legged aboard for the contest. Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to settle just off the pace and with three starts behind her now, she should be at her peak for this.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.6  TAYLA’S ONE  ($9 with Palmerbet)

Local galloper TAYLA’S ONE is on fire this time in and looks every chance of taking this one out today. Last start, the Super One mare was third-up and recorded her second win this preparation by beating home a Class 1 field, here over 1262m. With regular rider Zac Wadick aboard, she box-seated most of the way before taking control at the 200m mark and holding off all challenges to win by almost a length on the line. Wadick has been the only rider to sit in the saddle with her to date and he is sticking with her again today. After the claim, she carries less weight here as she steps up to Class 2 company and from gate five maps to be box-seating again. She should prove hard to hold out here at odds.
