BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.1 HE’S A COPY BOY ($2.90 with bet365)
Local galloper HE’S A COPY BOY is in career-best form this time in and ticks enough boxes here to be declared the best of the day. Last start, the Press Statement gelding came off a hat-trick of victories when he met a slightly stronger field and did well to finish third in the Wingham Cup, here over the mile. He drew the outside gate (11) and settled back in the field and was left with the big task of weaving through beaten traffic before finding space and running home strongly in the end. This is much easier today as he draws a dream gate (2) where he should settle a little closer to the speed. Courtney Bellamy returns for the ride, having ridden him to success two starts back and after her claim, he carries the same weight as last start. Two of his three career wins have come on this track and all things point to a victory for him today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.6 TAYLA’S ONE ($7 with bet365)
The locally-trained by Glen Milligan, TAYLA’S ONE has hit the ground running this preparation and looks well placed to go on with it today. Last start, the Super One mare came off a first-up (Maiden) win on this track when she beat all but one to the line in a BM58 Hcp over 1200m at Port Macquarie. She drew the carpark that day (14 of 14), leaving Zac Wadick no choice but to settle her at the tail of the field. Despite being hampered in the run home, she hit the line well to grab the silver medal, unlucky not to win the race. Wadick sticks with her today as she draws much better in gate five and maps to settle near mid-field with cover. Back on home soil and already a winner here, she should prove hard to hold out at odds today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.4 LION CLASS ($5 with Ladbrokes)
Another from the Glen Milligan stable is LION CLASS who has just missed the podium at his past couple but a gear change here might turn things around for him today. Coming off a fourth-place finish, the Pluck gelding took home the same cheque last start when he finished just behind the placegetters again in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m at Coffs Harbour with Zac Wadick aboard. Back to his home track today, the stable have decided to fit winkers on him for the first time as Wadick sticks with him as well. He’ll do no early work from gate three as he maps to settle mid-field with cover. Both career wins to date have come at this track and distance (with Wadick aboard on both occasions) so the scene is set for him to bounce back today.
