The Port Macquarie-based BUCK PHAROAH has made the podium in all three visits to Taree so far and ticks all the boxes here to suggest that won’t change today. Last start, the American Pharoah gelding was second-up off a lengthy nine-month absence when he finished best to win a BM66 over 1000m at Kempsey. He carries 2kgs more today but is already a winner when third-up and has saluted here over the 1000m before. He gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle just behind the speed with cover. Jon Grisedale sticks with him today and with a trouble-free run here, he looks the testing material.

Race 1:  No.2  NOTHING’S SACRED  ($4 with Ladbrokes)

Muswellbrook galloper, NOTHING’S SACRED, is four starts into this preparation and should now be ready to produce his best today. Last start the Sacred Falls gelding arrived too late and had to settle for third prize in a BM66 over 1800m at Gundagai. Mikayla Weir has steered the six-year-old to a podium finish on four occasions from her five rides to date and returns here for this assignment. Placed once at the track in three previous visits, he should be at his peak now and down in grade, he gets the chance to bring up career-win number three today.

Race 6:  No.8  PICCOLO PONTI  ($5.50 with Bet Right)

Kempsey galloper PICCOLO PONTI is third-up today and looks well placed here to stake a serious claim for victory in this contest. Last start, the Bull Point mare came from last to grab third prize in a BM58 over 1250m on her home track. Matthew Palmer is the pilot today and from gate six, the mare maps to settle near mid-field with cover. Fitter for two runs back and placed twice at the track from three prior visits, she can figure in the finish today.
