BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.9  RUN RORY RUN

The locally-trained RUN RORY RUN loves it wet and will relish the conditions today. Last start, the Worthy Cause gelding was having his first start for the Tony Ball stable when he beat all but one home in a BM58 over 1305m on a Heavy 9 at Tuncurry. He sat just behind the speed that day and finished strongly to claim the runner-up prize. Mollie Fitzgerald was the pilot and sticks with him for this assignment. Nicely drawn in gate four, he maps to be parked in a similar position and boasting all three career wins coming on heavy tracks, he looks right at home in today’s conditions. He should prove hard to hold out here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 4:  No.1  INCENDIO

The Patrick Cleave-trained INCENDIO has made a big impression from his past three starts and second-up today, looks right in the mix. Last start, he resumed off a six-month absence and did well to pick up third prize in a BM58 over 1400m at Wellington. With Benjamin Osmond aboard, he sat one-off the fence behind the leaders and battled on gamely to score that podium finish. He ended his last preparation by winning his maiden on this track and distance where he carried 59kgs and put four lengths on them that day. The Per Incanto gelding looks like the real deal as Osmond sticks with him today. He could take beating here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.9  WANDJINA ROSE

Coffs Harbour galloper, WANDJINA ROSE is second-up today and looks a tad overs in this contest. Last start, the Wandjina mare was fresh off a lengthy six-month break when she beat all but one home in a BM58 over 1030m at Grafton on a Soft 6 that day. She sat on the leader’s heels to the turn and after taking over, was claimed late on the line by a swooper, leaving her with second prize. Darryl McLellan has his first ride on the mare today who boasts a strong wet track record with two wins and four minor placings coming from her ten starts on the surface. Already a winner when second-up, an each-way ticket here looks the go today.
