BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.7 SINGLE HONOR ($1.55 with Palmerbet)
The Nick Walsh-trained SINGLE HONOR has found his mojo of late and while making his track debut today, his resume suggests he will be very hard to beat. Last start, the Not A Single Doubt gelding recorded just his second career win (from 20 starts) when he took care of a Class 3 Hcp over 1050m on his home track at Rockhampton. He was sent out a white-hot favourite ($1.60) that day and didn’t disappoint, winning by more than a length over the line. Today, Walsh slaps the blinkers on the four-year-old for the first time and Justin Stanley has his first ride on the galloper. He gets the gun-run from gate one and will take a ton of beating from that draw today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.5 SHOTGUN SONNY ($3.80 with Neds)
The Roma-based SHOTGUN SONNY sees this track for the first time today and third-up here looks a serious threat to this field. Last start, the Tycoon Ruler gelding found trouble but still managed to grab third prize in a BM70 over 1050m at Rockhampton. Good money came for him that day ($11 into $6.50) and with Justin Stanley on board, he came within half a length of victory that day. He is a two-time winner when third-up and Stanley sticks with him for this assignment. This contest looks a little easier and with a trouble-free run, he can secure a podium finish today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.2 FAMOUS FELLA ($3.70 with Ladbrokes)
Craig Smith saddles-up FAMOUS FELLA here who is four starts into this preparation and sporting a gear change today, looks a genuine contender for the main prize. Last start, the Nostradamus gelding finished unplaced in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Rockhampton with Justin Stanley aboard. Smith takes the winkers off here and puts the blinkers back on for this contest. He should find this a little easier today and has Stanley sticking with him. He does no early work from gate three and maps to settle back in the field as per his usual racing style. There is plenty of early speed here and if the pace is genuine, the five-year-old will get last crack at them and should be finishing strongly. He looks a big chance today.
