Race 7:  No.2  DON’T STOP  ($2.80 with Bet Right)

Local galloper DON’T STOP is a Toowoomba specialist and second-up today looks in his element to bring up his fifth win at the track. Last start, the Mahisara gelding resumed off a 13-week spell when in need of the run, he finished a creditable third in the Listed Tattersall’s Recognition Stakes over 1350m at Doomben. He finished 4.5 lengths behind the winner (Zarastro) who has since gone on and won the Listed Magic Millions Falvelon in a canter. That is good form lines coming into this easier event. James Orman returns for his second ride on the seven-year-old and ideally drawn in gate two, maps to be parked right behind the speed. Already a winner when second-up and a four-time winner at Clifford Park, he will take beating here.

Race 4:  No.10  SIGOURNEY  ($3.35 with BoomBet)

Locally-trained by Kevin Kemp, SIGOURNEY is unbeaten in two starts this time in and looks all set to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Reliable Man mare made it back-to-back wins on this track (after transferring from the Michael Moroney camp) when she easily accounted for a Class 3 Hcp over 1300m. She settled last of the nine and could still see them all as they turned the corner, but finished over the top of them to claim victory by almost two lengths on the line. Kenji Yoshida was aboard for the five-year-old’s stable debut win two starts back and is reunited with her for this assignment. She does no early work from gate one as she steps-up to the mile here and even fitter for two runs back, she will take a ton of beating today.

Race 6:  No.2  ALL THAT PIZZAZZ  ($3.70 with Neds)

To the feature race of the day and while white-hot favourite (Rothfire) dominates the market, the poor barrier draw could be his undoing as the Tony Gollan-trained ALL THAT PIZZAZZ fares much better at the gates and ticks all the boxes that suggest an upset is on the cards. Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding made it two wins from his past three starts when he clobbered them in the Listed Bribie Hcp over 1000m at Eagle Farm. From a wide gate, he travelled three-deep to the turn where Ben Thompson pulled him even wider to lodge his challenge. With a solid turn-of-foot, he passed them all in the run home and went on to win by a length on the line with plenty in reserve. He draws the middle of the field today and has James Orman back in the saddle (who has saluted on him previously). If there is any chinks in Rothfire’s armour, this Gollan galloper will exploit them and finish ahead of him on the line.
