Townsville Tips for Friday, May 17

Our form expert provides Townsville tips for today’s horse racing at Cluden Park Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.4  CENTRAL PARK

Changing stables recently is CENTRAL PARK who had his first start for Townsville trainer, Jeffrey Caught recently and impressed so much, he looks the best of the day. The Manhattan Rain gelding transferred from the Stuart Kendrick stable and last start, showed he was happy in the tropical north, destroying his Maiden rivals by almost four lengths over 1200m on this track. Adrian Layt was aboard that day and remains in charge for this contest. He steps up to the mile today and considering his winning margin last start, he should be ready to handle today’s trip. Carrying just 2kgs more today, he still looks the testing material here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2:  No.4  MISS SEATTLE

The Georgie Holt-trained MISS SEATTLE is a track specialist and now four starts into this campaign, looks a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Better Than Ready mare found her best form and on her home track (here), did best to win in Open company over 1400m with Jackson Murphy in the saddle. After being held up on the turn, Murphy found daylight and she gathered them in to arrive in time and claim the first prize that day. Murphy sticks with her today where she is a five-time winner at the Cluden Park track and will take beating here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.9  FODOR

The Steve Massingham-trained FODOR is high-flying this time in and four starts into this preparation, he looks a genuine contender in this contest. Last start, the Heroic Valour gelding made it three-straight podium finishes when he beat all but one home in a BM58 over 1400m at his home track in Cairns. Ryan Wiggins has been aboard for the galloper’s past three starts and sticks with him for this assignment. He gets all the favours from gate one today and will appreciate them too as he strives to score his first win at Cluden Park in nine attempts. Well placed to achieve his goal, he looks a real threat here today.
