BEST BET 🏆

Race 1:  No.2  SILVER GLITTER

The Tom Button-trained SILVER GLIITER hasn’t missed a podium finish in four starts to date and looks set to spoil birthday celebrations for Lacey Morrison in this contest. Last start, the Denman filly made it two wins from her past three starts when she proved too good in a Two-Year-Old set weights contest over 1200m at Rockhampton. With Sam Collett on board that day, she settled near last from the wide gate (9 of 12), and on the turn, was unbalanced and could see them all. Courtesy of the 600m home straight at Callaghan Park, Collett had the time re-balance the filly and slowly but surely worked her way into the race where she finished best of the 12 runners and arrived in time to claim an unlikely win that day. Regular rider, Gabby Semmens jumps back aboard for this assignment and where she gets the gun-run from gate one today. The two-year-old has two main rivals here, both of which are resuming, so she has fitness on her side today. All boxes ticked here, she stands out today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.16  CHILLI JAM

Unbeaten in four starts this time in, the Tony Comerford-trained CHILLI JAM faces her toughest test to date but has so much upside about her, she still looks like adding another picket to the fence today. Last start, the well-bred Hellbent mare made it look like just another procession as she destroyed a BM60 field, here over the 1000m sprint. Formerly with the Victorian stable of Team Templeton, the four-year-old is yet to taste defeat and today, has Issabella The back in the saddle, who has two rides for two wins with the mare on her resume as well. From gate five today, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with a clear run to the line, to is every chance of remaining unbeaten here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.9  CATALINA DREAMING

The locally-trained CATALINA DREAMING is high-flying this time in and looks the one to beat in this contest. Last start, the Mikki Isle filly saw the Cairns track for the first time and did well to grab second prize in a Three-Year-Old Open Hcp over the 950m sprint. The former Victorian galloper has had three starts in the tropical north to date and managed to finish on the podium in all of them. Today she steps-up to the Cluden Park 1200m journey and has Jason Taylor on board for the first time. Ideally drawn in gate four today, she maps to settle mid-field with cover and a clear run to the line today should see her there at the finish.
