Race 2: No.2 ESPIRITO ($4.85 with BoomBet)

The Paul Murray-trained ESPIRITO is third-up today and returning to country grade opposition, looks much more at home here and will take beating. Last start, the Bel Esprit gelding took on the big guns in a BM72 over 1000m on Randwick’s Kensington track where he had no luck in running, beaten 3.5 lengths, finishing out of a place that day. This is a big drop in class here and after the claim, he carries just half a kilo more than last start, with Paul Zerafa having his second ride on the five-year-old. After early scratchings, just six gallopers remain in the field, leaving barriers an unimportant factor for the race. Already a winner when third-up and a two-time winner at the trip, he is a genuine winning chance in this contest.

Race 1: No.5 FACE THE DAY ($6 with bet365)

The Luke Clark-trained FACE THE DAY is in great form this time in and this contest looks right up his alley. Last start, the Zoffany gelding was third-up and coming off a good win at Nowra, beat all but one home in a BM58 over the mile at the same track. Kayla Nisbet was aboard on both occasions and has the job again today. He drops in grade here and comes up with gate two where he will do no early work as he settles back in the field with cover. He is a two-time winner at the trip and has placed once in his two starts at the Wagga track. Rock-hard fit with three runs under his belt he should be there at the finish today.

Race 4: No.7 SWIFT ENUFF ($6.50 with Palmerbet)

Local galloper SWIFT ENUFF is third-up today and having just her fourth race start and down in weight here, looks every chance of going back-to-back in this contest. Last start, the Rich Enuff mare was second-up when she broke through for her Maiden win, here over 1000m. Unwanted in the market that day ($18), She loomed on the turn and down the middle of the track, took over inside the final 200m and hung on for a game win. After the claim, she carries 3kgs less here and from gate four, maps to get the run of the race (one out, one back). A trouble-free run today can see her saluting here.
