The Peter Maher-trained PROJETO is third-up today and looks up to taking this contest out. Last start, the Master Of Design gelding came off a first-up win in a BM66 at Corowa when he finished a close-up fifth against city class gallopers at Moonee Valley. With Simon Miller aboard, he was held up at vital stages in the run home and should finished closer that day. Drawn the outside gate today, it might serve as a blessing today where he should avoid being boxed-up on the fence and it’s a small field as well. The lightly-raced four-year-old will strip even fitter after two runs back and should find this assignment a lot easier than that Moonee Valley event. Miller has been the pilot for all four starts to date and has the job again today. He looks the testing material here.

Race 7:  No.3  BOLD TRIUMPH  ($3.30 with BlueBet)

Wodonga galloper BOLD TRIUMPH has finished runner-up in his first two starts under Craig Widdison and looks well placed here to go one better today. Last start, the Turffontein gelding set out to lead all the way and looked home until one put up a challenge over the final 100m and got the bob-in right on the line in a Class 1 over 1200m at Canberra. Nick Souquet was aboard that day and sticks with the five-year-old for this assignment. Fitter for three runs back now and already a winner at the Wagga track, he gets the chance to make amends today.

Race 8:  No.6  FIFTY CARATS  ($9.50 with Palmerbet)  

The Goulburn-based galloper, FIFTY CARATS boasts a solid record at the Wagga track and three starts into this campaign, she looks in amongst the main chances in this contest. Last start, the All American mare came off two unplaced efforts (after resuming from a six-month absence) and found her mojo again by taking out a BM58 Hcp, here on the Riverside course over 1065m. Jack Martin had his first ride on the mare that day and has the reins again for today’s challenge. She is already a two-time winner when third-up and has two wins and six minor placings at this track as well. Two of her four career-wins have come over the 1200m trip and avoiding any trouble today, she looks a real threat to this field at odds.
