BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.2 FANZ ($3 with Palmerbet)
The Rod Northam-trained FANZ is third-up today and sporting a major gear change, looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Sepoy gelding drew wide (gate 10 of 14) and after a slow start, made up a ton of ground to finish just behind the placegetters in a BM66 Hcp over 1200m at Mudgee. Much better drawn today, he should find this event a little easier and after the claim, carries less weight. The stable fit the tongue tie here for the first time and unbeaten in two previous third-up appearances, he should prove hard to hold out today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1: No.3 TIMMY ($6.50 with Ladbrokes)
The Andrew Ryan-trained TIMMY makes his Warren debut today and third-up here, looks a serious player to take out the main prize. Last start, the Scissor Kick gelding was second-up and unwanted in the market ($21) when he beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at Dubbo. Trying to lead all the way, he travelled well but found one a little better on the day. Ashleigh Stanley has been aboard for all seven career races to date and backs-up again for today’s assignment. Fitter for those two runs back, he is already a winner when third-up and looks every chance of making his track debut a winning one.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.4 LOCKDOWN LAD ($14 with Palmerbet)
The Scone-based galloper LOCKDOWN LAD is third-up here and is capable of playing a hand at each-way odds today. Last start, the Exosphere gelding showed plenty of improvement when second-up at Dubbo, finishing a close-up third in a Maiden Plate over 1100m. Dran wide that day (gate 9 of 11), he was always chasing and just couldn’t quite run down the race-favourite (Eagledge) who took the honours that day as a white-hot $1.60 elect. Fitter for two runs back, Matthew Palmer sticks with him today and much better drawn here in gate five, he maps to settle closer to the speed (with cover). He should find this assignment a little easier and looks overs for this contest and well worth an each-way ticket today.
