Race 6 No. 1 SAUNTER BOY- ($1.85)

Going with the proven performer, SAUNTER BOY, to slug it out in the Galleywood Hurdle. The 10-year-old has had two runs this time in and comes off a last start runner-up performance behind Blandford Lad over the Pakenham 3200m hurdles on April 16 when attempting to lead all the way. He was headed at the top of the straight but stuck on well with the 72kg. The 10-year-old has won two of three at the track and trip and will be ridden by Steven Pateman, who has steered him 11 times for eight wins.

Race 1 No 1 DEBATING- ($3.25)

Willing to roll the dice on DEBATING in the opener. The race features four debutants so there are some unknowns but I liked the way this colt stuck on well at this debut in Adelaide behind Heuristic and Harley’N’Rose. The son of Reward For Effort was posted out three wide and without cover but kept sticking on to fill the minors in what was a solidly run affair. He will no doubt benefit from the experience and the blinkers go on.

Race 7 No. 5 FIELD OF FLUTES- ($5.25)

FIELD OF FLUTES can go close in Race 7. The Maher/Eustace galloper has had the one run this time in and didn’t have much luck when 3rd behind Tequila Storm at the track and trip back on March 23 when working hard early before racing wide. Second up at his previous preparation, the three-year-old was solid when going down in narrow fashion in this grade at Moonee Valley over the distance. He draws perfectly in barrier 3 for this and will be ridden by Linda Meech, who strikes at 26% for the stable.
