BEST BET 🏆   

Race 2 No. 14 NEFERURE- ($3.50) 

This looks to be a suitable assignment for NEFERURE. The Maher/Eustace galloper has had the two career starts, running on from well back for 6th at Donald over the 1350m in what has turned out to be a solid form race before heading to Moonee Valley on December 8 and running 3rd over the 1600m behind Universally. She seemed to enjoy the step up to the 1600m that night and improved to go three lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner and the second best that any horse in this race has produced. With improvement to come at her third start, she can get the job done.

Race 5 No. 6  MISTER JONNO –  ($3.80) 

MISTER JONNO can go close in Race 5. The Tom Dabernig-trained galloper has had three runs this preparation for a Maiden win over the 1200m at Warrnambool when fresh before an ok performance at Donald when jumping to a BenchMark 64, finishing 4th over 1200m. At his most recent start, the son of Fastnet Rock seemed to enjoy the step up to the 1400m at the ‘Bool and was unlucky when going down narrowly behind Tennessee Knight with connections firing off an unsuccessful protest. He had a five-length gap on the 3rd horse. Will Price sticks on board and the pair draw barrier 6.

Race 7 No. 2 STATION ONE- ($3.80) 

STATION ONE can make it a hat-trick of wins when he steps out in the Woodford Cup. The Liam Howley-trained galloper has led all the way at his past two starts to score at Dunkeld and Traralgon. He did it with ease over the 1900m last time in the $70,000 Traralgon Cup. This looks no harder and he should be full of fitness at the fifth run of his current preparation.

Race 6 No. 5 THUNDER POINT- ($4.80) 

THUNDER POINT can end the day a winner. The Symon Wilde-trained galloper resumed from a spell at Hamilton recently and settled back over the 1200m before running on strongly to just miss out behind Sunburnt, overcoming some trouble in the straight in the process. The lightly raced six-year-old comes into this second up and went close at the track and trip at the back end of his last preparation. He can settle a little close this time around from the better barrier and will be ridden by Jordan Childs.
