BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.3 BREAKWATER BOY ($2.90 with Ladbrokes)
The Lindsay Hatch-trained BREAKWATER BOY resumes off a 21-week break today and now gelded, looks in line for the hat-trick here. Last start, the Headwater gelding ended an unbeaten campaign by taking out a BM60 Hcp over 1300m at Toowoomba. He ran that out, 1 length quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here by 4 lengths. Since being gelded, he has trialled, finishing third over a 650m sprint. He is seeing the Warwick track for the first time today and has Jag Guthmann-Chester in saddle who boasts a 33% success rate with the Hatch stable. Already a winner when first-up, he looks just the part in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.3 DRAGON PINS ($3.60 with BlueBet)
Lindsay Hatch saddles-up another one here with DRAGONS PINS looking for his first win this preparation. Last start, the Hidden Dragon gelding was caught too far back and despite finishing strongly, he had to settle for third prize that day in a BM62 Hcp over 1210m at Toowoomba. He did cover his last 600m, 5.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 6 lengths. Justin Stanley has had one ride on him for a win and is reunited with the seven-year-old today, after steering him to his maiden victory at Mackay five years ago. He gets all the favours from gate one today and he looks set for a win today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.11 DAZZLING FLASH ($5 with Palmerbet)
The Team Sears-trained DAZZLING FLASH is second-up today and looks a genuine chance in this field. Last start, the Red Dazzler mare made a solid return from a 20-week absence when she beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over 1300m at Toowoomba. Drawn wide that day, Michael Hellyer crossed and led from barrier-rise where the mare did a mighty job to hold them all at bay until her condition gave out and she was grabbed late by a swooper in the end. Hellyer sticks with the mare today and already a winner when second-up, she will strip fitter here and should be there at the finish.
