Werribee Tips 8/6/2023

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 8 No. 4 KING NEPTUNE- ($2.75)

Nice race to finish off and FIELD OF FLUTES can make it back to back wins after scoring on a Heavy 10 at the Warrnambool carnival back in early May. That came in a field of just three horses but the promising galloper ran solid time given the conditions and might get similar on Thursday. A winner of two of five, the son of Deep Field was solid when a narrow runner-up the only other time he raced in a BM70. He draws the inside barrier with John Allen to ride.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 3 No 11  LUNAR MODULE- ($3.85)

LUNAR MODULE shapes as a solid prospect in Race 3 at Werribee. The recent acquisition to the Dan O’Sullivan stable stepped out on Heavy going at Cranbourne on May 26 and led them up before going down in the last 50m behind Dudance. She has placed in three of five and should relish the conditions, while she went 2.9 lengths slower than standard benchmark last time, which is nearly four lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. Blinkers go on and she has the speed to cross early on from barrier 10.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 5 No 5 ADONIS KICK – ($7)

We stretch out over the 2200m in Race 5 and ADONIS KICK should find this easier than a last start effort that saw him face late to 7th placing in a BenchMark 70. The Peter Gelagotis-trained galloper settled handy in a fast run affair but couldn’t go on with it. He was runner-up at his previous start when in this grade, while his most recent win came at Werribee late last year. Look for improvement from the five-year-old.
