Race 6 No. 4 WATADEEL ($2.20)

WATADEEL is the one to beat in the Wodonga Gold Cup. The Anabel Neasham-trained galloper was around the mark earlier this preparation before switching stables and leading all the way to debate Von Haute over the 1600m at Flemington on Stakes Day. That Paire put a gap on the rest and the winner went 10 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced in the past two years. He has the speed to push across from the wide barrier and will be hard to hold out at the business end.

Race 4 No. 6 STRUCK TWICE- ($4.60)

STRUCK TWICE can be an improver in Race 4. The four-year-old hasn’t done much in his two runs this time in but was a dominant winner in Maiden grade at his last preparation when stepping out at the track and trip. Last start effort at Kyneton over the 1856m saw him only managed 7th but the 2050m here might bring out the best in the Price/Kent Jnr galloper and he does come in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner, while he was a seven length improver at this stage of his last preparation.

Race 8 No. 1 NOLAN- ($5.50)

NOLAN can end the day with a win. The four-year-old has come back in excellent order this preparation, winning his two race by a combined margin of almost six lengths. The most recent of those came at Echuca in a BenchMark 58 and he drew clear at the business end. The locally trained galloper steps up to a BenchMark 64 and can measure up.
