Yarra Glen Tips 04/01/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 2 No. 4 ORTEGA- ($2.80)

ORTEGA should be hard to beat in Race 2. The four-year-old has had the five career starts for three minor placings and has been close up behind some handy types in the city in some of those. The Michael Kent-trained galloper comes into this first up and at the same stage of his last preparation he was solid on a Soft deck when 5th at Caulfield behind Flying On A Limb in a $150,000 race before placing at Sandown over the 1200m. This is much easier and the son of Rich Enuff will settle in the first few.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 2  FIFTYSEVENYEARS-  ($4)

FIFTYSEVENYEARS can be an improver in Race 6. The Liam Howley-trained galloper stepped out at the track and trip on December 22 and led before just missing out late when placing behind Nystrom. He worked hard in the early stages and was wide without cover but stuck on well. Second up at his last preparation, the four-year-old was a dominant maiden winner at Geelong in a race that produced four winners.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 7 KHAN’S TREASURE- ($6.50)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for KHAN’S TREASURE. The five-year-old has been around the mark in a number of runs at her past five starts, winning at Mornington over the 2000m earlier this preparation. At her most recent start, the daughter of Mongolian Khan was posted wide before running 7th at Caulfield over the 2000m in a race that has already produced a couple of winners. She drops in grade for this assignment and draws perfectly in barrier 5 with the 3kg claimer, Luke Cartwright, to ride.
